Shelly Albright is the Coordinator of Children’s Ministries at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Wellington. In her current position she is responsible for all programming at the church for children from infancy through grade 5. This includes planning and creating curriculum, special events and programs, as well as recruiting, coordinating and training volunteers to direct and implement the programs. She is also the staff person leading the Radical Hospitality team which actively engages the congregation and the community at large through special events, activities, public relations and marketing.
Through her work at the church she has vast experience in community outreach and sits on the Interfaith Committee for Safe Neighborhoods sponsored by the Village of Wellington. This is a group of interfaith religious leaders who meet on a regular basis to create an effective plan of action that assists people within the community with various needs. She also currently sits on the Board for the Warren W. Willis Camp which is part of the camping ministry of the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church and has a long tradition of creating camping experiences that transform the lives of young people.
Shelly is incredibly excited to be on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Foundation and the Co Chair of Women on the Run Palm Beach. She is a strong proponent of developing the potential of women through education and training which is why she believes in the purpose of WORPB which is an in depth training program for women who are interested in public leadership or elected office.
As a past President of the Junior League of the Palm Beaches, Inc., Shelly was responsible for the governance and management of a volunteer organization consisting of 736 women; presided over meetings of the JLPB, Board of Directors and Executive Committee; created and implemented a 3 year strategic plan; restructured the board of directors and executive team through bylaw changes; created new processes for public relations/communications which focused on branding within the marketplace; secured a corporate media sponsorship valued at $77,405+; raised $102,962 through fundraising efforts and raised approximately $110,000 through grants. Previous leadership roles include Planning Council Chair (2011-12), Community Advisory Council Chair (2011-2012); Executive Committee ( 2010 – 2013); Board Of Directors (2010- 2013); Recording Secretary /Membership Council Co Chair – Executive Board (2010-2011); New Member Chair (2008-09; 2009-10); Woman Volunteer Of The Year (2006; 2006-07; 2007-08; 2008-09).
Shelly began volunteering at an early age and has never stopped. Her strong desire to make a positive impact in her community has led her to a variety of volunteer roles in Palm Beach County. Various volunteer and leadership roles include the following: Parent Teacher Organization Elbridge Gale Elementary President (October 2010-2011); Vice President/ Membership Chair (2010), School Carnival Coordinator (2011), Special Events (2010; 2006), Corresponding Secretary (2005-2006); St. Peter’s UMC Committee on Lay Leadership (2009-2012);United Methodist Women Vice President (2007-2008), Secretary (2006-2007); Suncoast High School Foundation Board Of Directors( 2010-2011); PTA Citrus Cove Elementary School President (1999-2001), Vice President: Fundraising Chair (2001-2002), Newsletter Editor (1998-1999).
Shelly graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Literature. She and her husband David are happily raising their 4 sons in Wellington.
